The RCD Site Specific Training Award operates for those organisations who wish their staff to work solely on their ropes course. Invariably some form of site specific training is required following construction.
The RCD Open Training Award is a much broader course and ensures instructors have received training on various elements and operational procedures on one of Europe's most extensive ropes courses. As a result they will be well-equipped to work on any course that RCD has built.
Those that hold an RCD Open Award have proved that they are able to operate to an exceptionally high standard on a ropes course. It will also give the holder the confidence to work on any of the 500 or more ropes courses constructed by RCD. The training for the Level 2 RCD Open Training Award (including the assessment) is 5 days.
Regular Open courses are normally held at RCD Burnbake ropes course in Dorset.
All RCD training courses have a balance of both “hard” and “soft” skills and all the RCD trainers have many years of experience in managing ropes course facilities with a wide variety of groups.
In a further attempt to ensure as much independence in the construction process as possible RCD training is managed by an independent company called Vertex. Vertex is managed by Steve Woods who is recognised as an expert in his field by the British Standards Institute. Steve was formerly head of RCD training before establishing his own specialised company 5 years ago. RCD is very proud to be associated with the leading trainer.
